"Building Our Community
One Child at a Time"

So many of the children in our community are facing obstacles in life; while their situations are not easily changed, the challenges they face can be overcome with both encouragement and guidance. For many, that support can be provided through a relationship with a mentor. A mentor is simply an adult who commits to being a friend and role model to a student in need.
  • Mentors encourage and support positive attitudes and behaviors while providing support and guidance to help achieve academic, personal, and occupational success.
    • Mentors meet with their students one time a week for lunch; during this time, the two will eat, talk, read, study, or just be friends!
Here at CIS, we believe that children deserve to overcome their sense of helplessness and hopelessness. But it is only with your support, your involvement, that we can make it happen. By becoming a mentor you are doing more than investing in the future of our community. You are changing a child’s life for the better.
