Communities In Schools

Students enrolled in CIS are children who will benefit from
a positive, one-on-one relationship with an adult.

Students, Kindergarten through 12th grade, are referred to the program by a caring school staff member. Students may be experiencing a variety of life situations that qualify them for enrollment in CIS, including:

·        Poor academic achievement.

·        Repeated behavior referrals.

·        Excessive tardiness and absences.

·        Unresolved social or health situation.

·        Family in crisis. We currently host programs in 22 schools in both the Lexington City and Davidson County  systems. (See tabs above.) We choose which schools to open programs in based on their Free & Reduced Lunch rates; the Free & Reduced Lunch rates are a good indicator of the percentage of children in each school who live in poverty.
